Bucci Art Gallery

was established in 1999 by Andrea Bucci, son of well-known painter and sculptor, Guido Bucci (1926-2017).

The Bucci family originates from Viareggio, a town on the Tuscan seacoast, where the family’s home hosts the work of father Guido, and the workshop of son Andrea.

The art story begins at the threshold of WWII when Guido, third oldest child of nine brothers, began to show his talent in the arts. He was very fortunate to have moral and economic support from his aunt and uncle, so that he could attend the Istituto di Arte in Carrara, Tuscany. However, with the onset of WWII, he had to interrupt his studies, like all of his peers in Italy. It was only after the war, that he was able to resume his studies, already a husband and father. Despite the difficulties, he completed his art degree and graduated from the Istituto di Arte in Lucca. His career as a professional artist began in 1951 at Galleria Fratini, with his first exhibition in his hometown of Viareggio. Guido’s art career spanned over 60 years, with numerous exhibitions all over Italy, and neighboring countries. Guido’s color palate of the Tuscan seaside, his landscapes, and the beautiful, natural, images of his feminine figures were adored by his public, and still are to this day.

Andrea was born in 1966, and as a toddler, was able to follow his father and mother around Italy during his father’s countless exhibitions, experiencing the joy and many challenges of being a professional artist. Andrea had the dream of being an independent artist, and to be able to show his artwork directly to the public, bypassing the gallery and art critics establishment. With his own style and marketing in mind, managing his own gallery was the solution. His gallery is located in Lucca, a beautiful, unique, and walled Tuscan town, that existed in a primitive form even before the Roman’s firmly established it as their own. It is a destination of high end tourism with people visiting from all over the world.

In more than 20 years of activity, Bucci Art Gallery has gained a reputation for the quality artwork presented, and the reliability of its professional art and business practices.

In the last few years, a photography section has enriched the art collection with a portfolio of original Black and White photos of the city, and the surrounding Tuscan countryside.

And the story continues and evolves today….
